In terms of numbers of cells in various categories, this lymph node bears a closer relationship to the mixed cellularity subtype than to the classical lymphocytic predominance subtype. In this node, unlike the mixed cellularity subtype, the histiocytes are largely differentiated into epithelioid cells; the significance of this cellular adaptation for defence against neoplastic cells is not known.
